Shifts across midnight count forward
An end time earlier than the start is read as a shift that crosses midnight: 22:00 to 06:00 is 8 hours, counted on the day the shift started — the same way WorkTime attributes a night shift.
Decimal hours, because payroll asks for them
Payroll and invoices want decimal hours, and the conversion is not the one most people expect: 8:05 is 8.08 hours, not 8.05. The calculator shows both, so nothing is converted by hand.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I enter times? Type 9:00 or 09:00, or use 9:00 AM and 9 pm — all of them are read the same way.
- Is the break subtracted? Yes. The break is in minutes and comes off the total; a break longer than the shift gives zero, never a negative.
- Does it keep my hours? No. The calculation happens in your browser and nothing is stored. To keep a record of every shift, WorkTime does that on your phone.
